The Sinclair Method really works! I remember feeling so suspicious about this when I first heard about it but hopeful that it could help to control my drinking. At the beginning I was just so thankful that it was preventing me from going on binges that could have killed me. I found it hard to comprehend that I could ever get to a stage where I no longer craved drinking alcohol, but alas I'm here. I thought I would give it 6 months but after 4 months in I couldn't stomach the thought of having another drink so I have decided to quit drinking. This was such a big decision in the past but now it's like 'meh alcohol is so boring, I just don't want it anymore'. I have now taken up hiking and being in nature which is so much more enriching and beneficial. I'm feeling in control of my life and much more positive about the future. Thank you to Dr Sinclair, Dr Eskapa, Claudia Christian and everyone who is apart of this OSL community. The stories and progress that has been shared on here really helped me get to this stage. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I can live again!
jakey Congrats and welcome to the club. I also reached PE in about 5 months. It's strange how you just can tell because you no longer obsess or think about alcohol, or feel anxious waiting for the next drink. It just becomes an after thought. I characterized it as visiting an old friend with whom I used to be very close -- but we've grown apart as we don't have much in common anymore, and when the visit is over, I don't think about it or plan on seeing them again in the near future. It's now been 4.5 years since I started and my drinking levels and days are so low, like 1 day a week, 2-3 glasses of wine tops, I wonder why I even bother. I guess it's just to be sociable.
There are so many wonderful things in my life now -- singing, performing, storytelling, improv -- that I never would have attempted if I were still drinking. I felt so tethered to access to alcohol. It took up so much of my psyche's energy and my time. And now...I'm free.
