From about 2012 up through 2017 I had a steadily increasing addiction to alcohol. Late 2017 I was drinking a 12 pack per day (I managed to constrain myself to beer only, but that was the limit of my self-control). In 2017 I had gone to AA several times and was convinced that I had a permanent addiction that could not be fixed, only managed with great difficulty.
Sometime late 2017 or early 2018 I discovered TSM online. The first doctor I went to was willing to prescribe naltrexone even though he had not heard of TSM. I still have the pill bottle, the label even says "take one tablet daily" (Wrong!).
Within the first week I had cut alcohol consumption in half.
The naltrexone refills were done 30 pills at a time. When I ran out the second time the pharmacy was closed due to some holiday. No way I was going to screw this up, I was already making progress. I could go one night without alcohol. The next day, I decided why not, let's try another day. Then the realization hit - there were simply no cravings.
Now I can go to a bar where everyone is drinking except me, and it requires no willpower to avoid drinking. I just don't want to.
Thank you Dr. Sinclair!
