I actually don't remember when I started TSM -- it had either been 2 or 3 years but my life is completely transformed. I am so glad I did my own research online and found Claudia's TED talk and documentary online before I took the medication daily as my doctor had prescribed it.
I'm almost afraid to say it but I have quit drinking. Alcohol repluses me now. The taste, the smell, the scene, and even the feeling. All the things I used to adore. Good riddance. I had my fill and then some. If I never have another drini again it's fine with me. But I have Nal handy in a keychain if I feel the urge or am pressured in a social situation but my friends know I just don't drink now and I tell them all why and how.
It took a little while. There were 3 stages: Stage 1: I craved alcohol. It was hard to wait an hour to drink after taking Nal, but I did. Then my craving was usually diminished. Sometimes I even had to force myself to drink. Social situations were harder to control. Stage 2: I stopped drinking alone because it was entirely unpleasant. I only used Nal for social functions. Stage 3: I stopped drinking and attend social functions sober. Alcohol repluses me.
I am full of gratitude. Thank you thank you thank you.
cautiouslyoptimistic: and thank YOU. I’m grateful for your post; TSM is such an up and down process, we need people like you to report success! I hope some day I’ll be in your shoes, stopping by OSL to encourage others and tell my success story. 😊
So happy for you , thank you for sharing with us ! When you have time it would be great to hear how long in between each step. I know some of us ( me) can get a little discouraged along the way Congratulations
