I successfully gave up smoking using chimpax - took for 3 months and went from 20 a day to 0. Chimpax also blocks the brains receptors to stop you wanting to smoke. I wandered how long people need to take selincro for? Is there any honeymoon period- do the effects wear off ever and if so how do we manage this? I heard that there can be this honeymoon period but that maybe from nexterone not nal/selincro.
The short answer is for the rest of your life, assuming that you continue to drink. Basically, whenever you are going to drink, you need to take the tablet at least an hour before you drink. And you don't take it on the days when you don't drink.
I appreciate that this might sound monumentally depressing, but think about it - the more you progress with TSM and the closer you get to pharmacological extinction, the less often you will feel the need to drink. Assuming that you're not aiming for total abstinence (which some people do and do achieve), then you'll be able to drink only on the occasions when you feel like it, not when your body and brain crave it. So the number of days on which you drink will go down and down, and the number of tablets you need to take goes down and down too. Once pharmacological extinction is achieved, you might find you're only taking 1 or 2 tablets a month, if that. I know a lot of successful TSM-ers who say that they go months without drinking because they simply don't think about alcohol any more.
And taking the odd tablet now and again is a pretty minor thing, really, in the grand scheme of things, isn't it?
