I received my first 10 pk of Nodict from Rivers last week and have taken it consistently 1.5 hours before drinking for the past three days. Quick back story. I've had multiple instances of knowing I had some AUD specific issues. Some trouble, a divorce, and a stint in AA for 11 months still didn't do much to keep me from drinking hard. I became a member of this group almost a year ago, very shortly after my youngest was born. At this same time, I went to my PCP and asked for Naltrexone, gave him the reasons ect and he prescribed me Xanax. I did quit for about 45 days but then of course came back to it blacking out, being stupid, risky, and worst of all in front of a great family.
So TSM it is!! I made another 30 ct order from Rivers and I'm worried that it won't be here until after I run out of the original 10. So, I'm going to likely attempt as many AF days I can until the larger order comes in. Anyone ever had this issue or advice in the meantime?
My stats are here -
Weekly drinking has been 35-60 units. I'm excited to say (even while in the honeymoon period) that I'm off pace for my first week already. I'm taking 50mg 1.5 hrs before drinking and have seen some minimal side effects but feel like the medication seems to doing what it should.
Anyway. Lot's of great posters on these message boards and I appreciate all of your comments, suggestions, and support.
Welcome willk155! Wishing you all the best for 2019 as you begin your TSM journey. You have a one-year old and sounds like other children as well? What a great incentive to get healthy.
I think you are right to try and ration your pills so that you NEVER drink without taking a pill one hour before. Hopefully your order will come in soon so you will be covered. From everything I read and understand, 100% compliance is the name of the game with TSM. I am in week 11 and maintaining absolute compliance, and I do believe I may be starting to see results.
Post often here. This is a great community and you'll find tons of support.
Thanks pauline. I've been considering taking the remaining 5 pills and splitting them. Not even sure if doing that is a viable option. But yeah, yesterday was AF. It wasn't to bad. Just stayed busy, slept well, and got up early to get some things done. Today has been kinda tough. I was going to go AF again but just started feeling kinda froggy about an hour ago so I went ahead and took a pill. I'm all about doing TSM by the letter. It seems really straight forward on how to do it.

Welcome, Will! Congrats on your youngest! I am also on here to quit drinking for the kids. I don't have any yet, but I'm 28, have been with my boyfriend for a year and a half and I'd like to marry him and have kids with him, but being a daily drinker, I can't do that if I don't get this under control. Like pauline said, post often! We're all very supportive of each other and for me, it's therapy to hear that others have AF days as I have yet to experience that, but I'm in Week 6. Best of luck to you! And welcome to our family!
Looking forward to a future worth remembering! I believe in you too!
Thanks everyone again. Followed TSM to the letter again last evening. Only had 3 beers over a two-three hour time frame. Typically, if I have three I'm going to keep on going. I found myself drinking super slow (30 minutes a beer is slow for me) for the first two while out at a bar. It made me question why I was even there spending the money. I've taken half a pill today to help keep me on track until my larger supply is delivered. Overall, doing well and feeling good.
You can definitely split the pills. Most start at 25mg in case there are SEs (side effects). You just won't have as great a time coverage as with 50mg.
I originally ordered from the same online pharmacy as you and you may have a couple weeks wait, and it's more expensive than having a regular script. Have you checked out to see if you're in one of the states that MDProactive or other telemedicine providers service? If so, you can get a script from them and have your meds in a day. Here's a link to the C3's page cthreefoundation.org/telemedicine
I've done the .25 half pills last night and tonight after doing the .5 for a few days. To say the least it definitely feels different but I think I'm doing good. 3 beers yesterday and remains to be seen tonight. Either way still taking the TSM process serious. Just hoping I haven't messed anything up by doing this. Either way won't be buying less than a 30 day supply going forward. I have a hard time "reporting" this to a doctor and then have insurance label it is a pre-existing condition due to a lot of reasons. This is why I buy without a script. I do appreciate the Goodwill and overall comments. My first week ended yesterday with 30 units vs 45-60. I enjoy the thought of drinking normally but mindfully with this method.
Things seem to be going well still. I've been taking the .25's prior to drinking. Had a AF day yesterday. What did you guys do to have fun on AF days? I find myself struggling with adding activities, hobbies, normal stuff all day with this, in the sense of getting antsy and wanting to just get out of the house for an hour so I can drink some beer. Either way. Into the second week of TSM and really appreciating the differences.

willk155, I unfortunately have not had an AF day yet, so great job on having one! From what I understand, you want to fill it with things that made you happy before alcohol, or things you've wanted to do. For me, I plan on painting, hiking, taking my dog to the dog park, going to museums, going to festivals (although these mostly sell alcohol), working on a home project, cooking or driving through the mountains with my boyfriend in his Jeep. When I have an AF day, I will not stay down in the basement, watching TV or not changing out of my PJs. Keep us posted! I'd love to hear how your AF days go!
Looking forward to a future worth remembering! I believe in you too!
Sounds like you are off to a flying start Will. I am 6 weeks into the process and only had my first AF day last week, but have seen a good reduction in intake. This forum really helps to keep me in check and on the right road. So encouraging and makes me feel like I’m not alone. Are you forcing the AF days at all do you think? Just wondering as you mentioned feeling ‘antsy’ which could possibly mean ‘craving’.?
bunt I am likely forcing the two AF days I've had since starting TSM to a point. But it isn't like I'm 1000% white knuckling it either. If I find myself making it through to a certain point in the day and I haven't made a plan to go drink I will just try to stay busy. With TSM, I'm trying not to do many AF days within the first 30 days so if I even feel like I'm going to make the call to grab a few beers I just go ahead and make that plan and take the Nal 1.5 hrs ahead so I don't think about it (the plan) anymore.
Thanks runawaytrain for the ideas. I'm not really sure what I did before so I'm trying to keep it real simple. Reading is probably the best one I have right now.
But anyway! Had a chill weekend and hope all of you did as well.
Nothing to crazy to report from a Tuesday. I did have the most to drink that I've had since starting TSM. I don't feel necessarily good or bad about it, but I did hit a wall where I literally put down most of a beer and was done. Typically, I don't do that until it is time to go to bed.
The ups and downs are to be expected, Will. You might find you have some high-ish drinking days or weeks, then the numbers dip again, then up, then down. Like joesixpack days, it’s a marathon, not a sprint! I think you’re doing great!
